G9 Math Credit (OSSD)
Why Choose a Reach Ahead G9 Math Credit?
This G9 Math course gives your child an official credit towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). This course with Ontario code, MTH1W, is designed for students who are already excelling in math and working well beyond the grade 8 level. Taking this course as a “reach ahead” credit gives students flexibility in course scheduling when they enter high school. It leaves a slot open for a personal interest course or a course that may not normally be permitted. It can also allow for an easier transition into high school. Students learn the complete Ontario Grade 9 curriculum plus additional concepts time permitting. Your child will be more than prepared to enter Grade 10 Math when the time comes. Students looking to enroll in this program must complete a qualifying assessment.
Program Format
Crania’s G9 Math program is offered in a similar format to the Math Enrichment program. In a classroom style format, it spans almost the whole regular school year running from from November until June. Students attend a 2-hour pre-scheduled class per week. Additional extra-help sessions are scheduled which the students may optionally attend for further assistance if needed. Students are expected to behave appropriately and respect the time of others in the class. Work is assigned to be completed at home and must be submitted for grading. Students who do not submit their assigned work or do not receive a passing grade for more than two lessons in a row may be asked to move to our G7-8 Math Enrichment program. Work is expected to be completed both digitally and on paper. Students complete regular assessments and frequent feedback is provided to parents.

Advanced & Fast-Paced
The Crania Math Enrichment classes cover a large amount of advanced content in a short period. We recommend that students set aside regular time during the school year to devote to this program.
Interactive Learning
The Math Enrichment classes are taught in an interactive and engaging way. Attention is paid to everyone in the class and each student is expected to participate. We recommend that students arrive on time and prepared to participate fully. Completing the assigned work at home will give students the skills and confidence to fully engage in the lessons.
Small Class Sizes
Small class sizes are maintained in all the Math Enrichment classes. This allows each student to receive individual attention as well as the classes to run efficiently. Please register early for these classes as spaces are limited.
